Building Representative responsibilities according to our bylaws:
ARTICLE IV – OFFICERS AND DUTIES
Section E – Building Representatives
- All members shall be petitioned by the Executive Board at the beginning of each school year for the position of Building Rep for each school.
- All current Building Reps shall remain in their position year to year unless the Executive Board is notified in writing that they no longer wish to hold this position.
- Shall make themselves known to all Paras in their building.
- Supply contract and by-laws to any new hires in their building.
- Direct new hires to the Union Treasurer so that dues may be collected.
- Required to attend all meetings held. If unable to attend shall designate someone from their building to come on their behalf.
- Required to furnish an email address that needs to be checked weekly for P.A.L.S. union correspondence.
- Maintain a log with a list of all Paras in their building, all memos from the P.A.L.S. Union and minutes from general meetings.
- If a need for absentee voting becomes necessary, the Building Rep will make sure every Para in their building submits a vote in a secure manner. A checklist shall be maintained.
- Each Building Rep shall be provided an annual honorarium in the amount of fifty dollars ($50.00). This honorarium shall be distributed in June of each membership year.
- In the event the Building Representative resigns or is unable to fulfill their responsibilities during a membership year, the honorarium will be pro-rated in the following manner; one quarter of honorarium for each three-month period completed, such resignation must be in writing, dated and submitted to the Executive Board.
